Artificial intelligence without the hype: a guide to our AI articles

Artificial intelligence is on every other billboard today, in every app and in every sales email. Some of it makes sense, some is plain marketing and some is utter nonsense. We work with it every day, so we are fairly good at telling apart what is useful and what just sounds nice.
This article is not another ode to how AI will change your life. It is a guide. We gathered our articles on artificial intelligence and arranged them so you can find your way around the topic from the basics to the risks, without having to read half the internet.
What it actually is
Before you start using AI, it pays to understand a few terms that get repeated endlessly yet are rarely explained properly. You do not need to become a programmer, just have an idea of what is being talked about, and you will immediately tell a real feature from marketing fluff. You can start with the article on what an AI agent is and continue with machine learning.
- An AI agent is a program that not only answers but also takes steps on its own and uses tools, more in the article what an AI agent is.
- Machine learning is how models “learn” from patterns in data instead of hard-coded rules, covered in what machine learning is.
- An LLM (large language model) is what powers chatbots and generates text, explained in what an LLM is.
- Agents and MCP show where this is all heading once AI gets access to your tools, in the article AI agents and MCP.
How to actually use AI
Theory is nice, but most people care about getting a usable result out of AI. This is where it is won or lost: the difference between “AI is useless” and “AI saves me an hour a day” usually comes down to how you ask. You will find the practical basics in the article how to use AI chatbots, and writing good requests is covered in how to prompt an AI agent.
- Chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are a good start, overview in how to use AI chatbots.
- A good prompt decides the quality of the answer more than the choice of model, guide in how to prompt an AI agent.
- Be specific and give context. The more precise the request, the less back and forth.
- Always review the output. AI is a fast helper, not an authority to be blindly trusted.
AI in Windows and on your own hardware
You do not have to reach for the cloud straight away. Part of AI is now right inside Windows, and the more sensitive part you can run at home or in your company, where data goes nowhere. For everyday use see Copilot in Windows 11, and for privacy and company data local AI on your own hardware.
- Copilot in Windows 11 is AI built right into the system, more in Windows 11 Copilot.
- Local AI on your own hardware keeps data with you, without sending it to foreign servers, covered in local AI on your own hardware.
- The right hardware (especially the graphics card and memory) decides what you can run at home.
- For sensitive company data a local solution is often the only sensible route.
Risks and a sober view
So the whole thing does not read like an ad, let us add the other side too. AI is an excellent servant and quite a bad master, it can make things up, it can leak with your data, and today’s prices may not last forever. We write about the limits in AI a good servant, a bad master, and about the economics in the subsidised future and the price of AI.
- A good servant, a bad master. Where the limits are and how not to let AI outgrow you, in AI a good servant, a bad master.
- Today’s price is not final. Why cheap AI may turn into a luxury, in the subsidised future and the price of AI.
- Hallucinations. A model can confidently write nonsense, so verify the important things.
- Agents and MCP. When AI gets access to your systems, treat it with healthy respect, more in AI agents and MCP.
When to leave it to us
If the topic interests you, work through the articles above, there is quite a lot to learn from them. But you do not have to do it alone. When you would rather not spend evenings reading about LLMs and would prefer AI set up so it actually works for you, that is exactly what we do.
For households we help with artificial intelligence at home, and for companies we build tailored AI solutions including local models where data does not leave the company. If you are not sure where to start or whether it is even worth it for you, get in touch, we will advise honestly, even if the answer is “leave this one for now”.
